Rest. Relax. Renew.

Once known as the Shady Lawn Inn (1880) to generations of early Catskill tourists, this guest house is one of the oldest ones established in the historic village of Catskill – Hudson Valley area. The house has been meticulously maintained and gracefully sits on 3 pastoral acres of lawn covered with our century old trees.

The Neighborhood

The village of Catskill is enjoying a renaissance. It has historic mid-nineteenth century architecture and a beautiful natural setting, with sweeping views of the Catskill Mountains that inspired Thomas Cole, Fredric Church and other landscape painters.

Just an hour from the cultural centers of the Berkshires and Saratoga, and near Albany, Hudson and Woodstock, Catskill is close to all that is exciting about the Hudson Valley. Catskill is also visitor friendly with numerous shops, waterfront restaurants, and a string of elegant brick buildings that line Main Street. The community itself is becoming more diverse as artists, writers, and other creative individuals leave the hustle of the city for a more relaxed lifestyle. (just like we did!)

Amtrak (Hudson) is a 15 minute drive from the Shady Lawn House. The New York Thruway is 5 minutes away.

Arriving from NYC – Penn Station by train? Let us know and we would be happy to pick you up at the Hudson Station on the Amtrak Line. We recommend having a car if you are interested in exploring the Catskills Mountain area as well as the Hudson Valley and its surroundings.
